The PlayStation Showcase 2021 event is quickly approaching as it will stream this Thursday, September 9th at 1:00pm Pacific Time. PlayStation gamers have high hopes for this event after the last event that streamed after the E3 event this year was a bit lackluster. This event will focus on the future of the PlayStation 5. The stream will run for roughly forty minutes and will showcase titles from PlayStation Studios and other major studios heading to the system this holiday and beyond. Sony has confirmed that they will not be showing off the next generation VR addition to the console at this event.

PlayStation Showcase 2021 Announcement
We expect to see titles like God of War Ragnarok and Horizon Forbidden West at the event. However, in this article, we'll be taking a look at some of the titles we hope to see here at BeefyGaymer, whether or not it is likely that they will make an appearance.

Stray

Who doesn't love the idea of playing as a cat that happens to have a friendly robot pal? I've been excited to take on the role of this stray as the pair attempts to help our lost kitty friend escape from a dilapidating cyber-city. Stray is being developed by BlueTwelve Studios and is being published by Annapurna Interactive. The game was first shown off in June 2020 at PlayStation's Future of Gaming event. The title initially was expected to release in October of this year. However, it was pushed back until early 2022.

Although we don't need to see much more about this game, I would still love to see a brief snippet and a confirmed release date at this event! Seeing this title for the first time last year actually convinced me to preorder a PlayStation 5 last year. Check out the latest gameplay trailer below!

Final Fantasy VII Remake Part II

One has to love a run-on working title like that! A title that entered full production in late 2015 after years and years of teasing fans, Final Fantasy VII Remake was finally released to the PlayStation 4 on April 10th, 2020. Many fans were distraught to learn that the remake only covered the events of the first location from the original game, Midgar. However, what fans received was a much larger look at the lives of the citizens of Midgar and a more in-depth look at our heroes that we were introduced to during this section of the game. The finished product was beautiful and left many veterans of the original game wondering if the future of the remake will follow in its predecessor's footsteps.

A year later, Square Enix released an enhanced version of the game titled Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade on the PlayStation 5. This version of the game included additional features and improved visuals. Exclusive to the PlayStation 5 version is Episode Intermission a downloadable content episode which depicts the events of Yuffie Kisaragi during the time our heroes are in Midgar. Additionally, players received an extended ending which shows the party travelling to the town of Kalm, the second location you can visit in the original game.

Other than the release of Intergrade, we haven't heard much about the future of Final Fantasy Remake other than a sequel being in development. We would love to see a trailer, gameplay, an estimated timeline, anything really about the sequel! However, this one is unlikely as it probable that we will see more about the next mainline entry in the series, Final Fantasy XVI. But... I would definitely love to see it make an appearance.

Final Fantasy XVI

Speaking of Final Fantasy XVI, we expect to see more of the newest mainline entry into the series by Square Enix. The game was revealed during the PlayStation Showcase last September, so now would be a great time to show off more. Like Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, the game is a timed exclusive for the PlayStation 5, even though it was initially annouced for the PC as well.

As of yet, we do not know how far along development is on this game. We're hoping to see some new content and a solid release date. Maybe we will even see something crazy like a March 2022 release date! 🤞 After all, judging by the gameplay trailer that we have already been shown, it looks pretty far along. You can check out the Awakening trailer below!

Alan Wake Remastered

In a surprise announcement from Remedy Entertainment today, the originally Xbox 360 and PC exclusive Alan Wake is being remastered! The title is being released on the PC and the current and previous generations of the Xbox and PlayStation consoles. This marks the first time the game will be available on a Sony console. Now that we know it is being remastered, it would be awesome to see the progress of it during the showcase!

Wilder Hopes!

Although most of the list that is compiled here is unlikely, with the exception being Final Fantasy XVI, none of them are completely out of the realm of possibility of making an appearance at the PlayStation Showcase this year. The following are two pipe dreams for our wishlist here. But... I will ecstatic if they debut on the screen this Thursday!

Persona 6

The 25th anniversary of the Persona series is among us as of this month! What better way to celebrate other than announcing the next title in the series? Saying that Persona 5 was a success is an understatement. Atlus could really ride on their current wave of excitement by at least teasing the next installment. The official website for their 25th anniversary even teases an annoucement for this month!

Silent Hill

Now this one has been in the rumor mill for a very long time now. After years of releasing subpar Silent Hill games after the destruction of Team Silent by Konami, fans were once again excited when a teaser game called P.T. was released on the PlayStation Store. Those who managed to figure out how to escape the loop discovered that Hideo Kojima was creating a new entry in the series called Silent Hills. However, Konami cancelled the game and removed P.T. from the PlayStation Store.

Earlier this year, rumours began circulating about a Silent Hill reboot after a leaker stated it is in development as a PlayStation 5 exclusive. These rumors should be taken with a grain of salt as no announcments have yet to be made. However, the PlayStation Showcase would be an excellent opportunity to hype up a Silent Hill reboot, especially if it turns out to be a PlayStation 5 exclusive!
