First footage was shown of various titles including Bayonetta 3, Chocobo GP, and a new Kirby title. There were plenty of surprises and below is some of our thoughts about this Direct.

Mario is hitting the big screen again

In a surprise announcement, Nintendo has shared the first details of the Super Mario Bros. Animated film in collaboration with Illumination, known for animated films such as Minions. In a collective sigh from the gay fans, Nintendo has announced the Chris Pratt will be taking on the titular role of Mario. The rest of the voice cast was revealed during the presentation as well, though no footage was shown at this Direct.

Fans can rejoice as the Nintendo 64 is finally coming to the Nintendo Switch! In addition Nintendo has revealed that the Sega Genesis is along for the ride as well! Unfortunately, this came in the form of an expansion membership plan to Nintendo Switch Online. The new plan will launch in late October but no details of how much the expansion will cost has been revealed. Kirby is back in 3D!

Kirby is back and he's here in 3D! Kirby and the Forgotten Land will be launching in Spring 2022. Nintendo showed off a lengthy gameplay demo showing off Kirby and some of his signature moves in what appears to be a vast and open new world! At this point, it appears to be a solo adventure but I would love to tackle this journey with a friend!

Triangle Strategy is coming

In what seems now to be a tradition of weird naming conventions, Project Triange Strategy is now Triangle Strategy! New gameplay has been shown off of this spiritual successor to Final Fantasy Tactics. Developers have seemingly taken note of the feedback they received from the demo that was launched some time back. The new gameplay footage looks fantastic! Turn-based strategy RPG fans will finally get their hands on the final product on March 4th, 2022!

More Mario Party boards!

Mario Party Superstars in launching in roughly a month but that did not stop Nintendo from providing fans some footage of three more boards remade from the Nintendo 64 entries in the series! Woody Woods, Yoshi's Tropical Island, and one of my favorites, Horror Land, are all making their return in Mario Party Superstars! I, for one, cannot wait to add this to my game night lineup!
